Lately, I have become more and more conscious, or maybe a better term is aware, of how every decision I make may be the reason our planet is slowly deteriorating. Especially when it comes to decisions regarding the consumption.
Funny how our society has evolved from the simple caveman to the complex modern man… but I have started to wonder to myself: Are we really better off than our ancestors?
Only difference from years ago is that we have everything almost a arm’s length away yet we constantly refuse to move a finger. We have so much more especially in the variety of products as well that we tend to not pay much attention to what or how much we buy. Our society has become so wasteful and it’s alarming.
Take bottles for instance.
Everyday, we take for granted how we can just simply purchase a bottle of water. We don’t even stop to think where it all goes and how it will come back to us. I wonder if how many people have stopped and asked themselves: “How many bottles did I buy this week?” In our society, which is mainly consumes and consumes, I bet there is a surprising few who have asked themselves this without being prompted.
There are ways we can make a change though. Back to the example of the bottles, something as simple as purchasing a tumbler (with an “e” — NOT the microblogging site, mind you) can help you lessen your consumption of plastic bottles. You also get to save money!
Looks to me that we just need to take a little effort and give some consideration in order to help keep our planet healthy.
