I got my ticket and entered the theater thinking, this is a comedy.
Don’t ask me how because for some strange reason, it did not occur to me how it may have been a mix of suspense, action, romance and of course, comedy. It was definitely nail biting for me (litterally).
Plotwise, I saw bits and pieces I’ve seen elsewhere but all the twist and turns they added to the story really made it more interesting. I haven’t been so mind boggled by a movie in a loooong while. The actors also made the movie something. The treatment on the color of the film gave it the right mood. The costumes were wonderful and were well designed.
I loved how Robert Downey Jr. added little mannerisms that’s uniquely “Holmes”. Holmes’ planning and how they showed the way his mind worked what a nice touch to show how he was both an eccentric and a genius.
The complication of Watson getting married showed how attached Holmes was to his friend. Jude Law also made his “Watson” stand out. I’m glad they decided on a young Watson instead of an old plump one…
The villain for me was pretty cunning (and pretty creepy) and the mystery professor? Let’s just say I’m really looking forward to the sequel!
Last but not least, I can’t stop myself from pointing out… Holmes NEVER said,
Elementary, my dear Watson.
I wonder if I noticed correctly…
Sorry if I’m not writing well atm. I’ll try writing more about movies I’ve seen and books I’ve read. :]
Man, I really have to write these kind of things right after seeing the movie so it’s fresh in my head. Anyways, till next time!
